The problem

DD Engineering specialises in designing the factories of tomorrow, from extensions to production optimisation and energy optimisation.

Since 1991, the innovative multidisciplinary engineering company has had four specialisations: Factory, Safety, Logistics and Digital.

The company, which employs over 75 people, has many different departments and was increasingly faced with the need to centralise all its information and processes in a single software package. Indeed, before working with Nalios, DD Engineering was working on several different software packages, including Salesforce, but these different tools were not connected to each other. As a result, a lot of time was wasted encoding information in the various software packages. What's more, the software was unsatisfactory to manage and there was a cruel lack of automation.

For all these reasons, Karel Staelens, who had already been in contact with Odoo and Nalios when he was at XLG and Nalios had implemented Odoo, chose the Belgian management software.

DD Engineering began implementing Odoo in October 2023.

From SalesForce to Odoo :

A successful migration

Belgian company DD Engineering has undergone a remarkable transformation in its internal management thanks to the adoption of Odoo. The decision to migrate to Odoo proved to be a wise one, with a lower migration cost than that required to optimise Salesforce for their specific needs.
In addition, the high costs associated with testing and maintaining Salesforce were replaced by predictable and reduced maintenance costs with Odoo. The user experience was also a key factor, with significant time savings for users and the business as a whole. DD Engineering particularly appreciated the transparency and simplicity of Odoo's pricing for all its applications. Finally, DD Engineering's personal conviction to stay close to the standard instead of embarking on endless developments was reinforced, with notable advantages such as faster integration phases, maintenance costs under control and the possibility of benefiting from future developments without worry.

Implementation in several phases

The implementation of Odoo software at DD Engineering took place in several distinct phases, each targeting specific aspects of their internal management.

Phase 1 (Go live: 09/10/’23):

This first phase focused on contact management, CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and sales processes. The aim was to put in place a solid structure to manage customer relationships and sales activities effectively.

Phase 2 (Go live: 01/12/’23):

The second phase focused on employee-related aspects, in particular recruitment, as well as the management of the company's vehicle fleet. The aim was to optimise recruitment processes and ensure efficient management of the company's vehicle fleet.

Phase 2B (Go live: 01/01/’24):

Phase 2B added functionalities such as leave management, an eLearning platform and document management. These additions have improved human resources management and internal collaboration within the company.

Phase 3 (Go live: 04/03/’24):

Finally, the third phase introduced functionalities relating to project management, timesheets, invoicing and planning. These elements have enabled DD Engineering to optimise its project management and invoicing processes, thereby boosting its operational efficiency.

Each phase was carefully planned to ensure a smooth transition to full use of Odoo software, contributing to the overall improvement of DD Engineering's internal management.

And what about today?

The collaboration between DD Engineering and Nalios for the integration of Odoo software into their internal management was a strategic decision that brought several tangible benefits.

Firstly, the integration went quickly and efficiently, minimising operational disruption for DD Engineering. Odoo's ease of use facilitated adoption by employees, enhancing their user experience. Nalios played a crucial role by staying close to the Odoo standard while putting forward relevant suggestions to optimise the configuration according to DD Engineering's specific needs.

In addition, transparency in Odoo pricing was maintained throughout the process, allowing DD Engineering to plan its expenditure with confidence. In addition, Nalios met the agreed budget constraints and deadlines, demonstrating effective project management.

Finally, the open and professional communication between the teams fostered a positive collaborative environment throughout the project.
